Parábola de fe


Ahora, al anochecer, en las escaleras del palacio
el rey le pide a su dama que le perdone.
No tiene
doblez. Ha intentado
estar a la altura del momento. ¿Qué otro modo hay
de ser fiel a uno mismo?
La dama
esconde su rostro ayudada
por las sombras. Llora
por su pasado. Cuando se tiene una vida secreta,
nunca se explican las lágrimas.
Y aún así el rey carga
con la pena de su dama:
es el suyo un corazón generoso
así en la pena como en la alegría.
¿Sabes lo que significa perdonar? Significa
que el mundo ha pecado y debe
perdonarse al mundo.

Parable of faith 

Now, in twilight, on the palace steps
the king asks forgiveness of his lady.
He is not
duplicitous; he has tried to be
true to the moment; is there another way of being
true to the self?
The lady
hides her face, somewhat
assisted by the shadows. She weeps
for her past; when one has a secret life,
one's tears are never explained.
Yet gladly would the king bear
the grief of his lady: his
is the generous heart,
in pain as in joy.
Do you know
what forgiveness mean? it mean
the world has sinned, the world
must be pardoned
